Three-Day Weather Forecast from the BBC

No Shooting Today

05/02/2012

Just in case anyone tries to get to the Heath through the snow, please don't; stay indoors and keep warm. Hopefully it will all be gone by next Sunday.

We have our own Range!

27/11/2011

As Dave announced at today's shoot, we have a signed lease from the conservators of the heath allowing us to maintain and shoot on the area behind the second small car park on Royston Heath.

Apart from meaning that we can shoot more often and at our own choices of times, and expand to a greater number of members, it also allows us to shoot longer distances (70 to 90 metres) which are required to progress to higher classifications.

We plan to have the area prepared over the next month or so and should be able to start shooting there early in the new year.

Many many thanks to the Conservators of Royston Heath for allowing us to do this, and to both North Herts District Council and the Brian Racher Trust for granting us the funds to cover the costs of the initial preparation and maintenance.

Commonwealth Gold Medalist visits Aim4Sport

29/10/2011

Nikki Hunt

Michael Peart and Nikki Hunt gave a seminar on recurve archery at Aim4Sport today, and Nikki brought along the Commonwealth Gold Medals she won at Dehli last year when she was still shooting Compound.

Great Turn Out Today

23/10/2011

Great Turn Out

We counted over twenty people on the shooting line today, including the beginners course. One passer-by even asked if there was a competition!

Fame at Last

02/10/2011

Article in the Royston Crow

This week the Royston Crow ran a little article on our fund-raising activities. We promise not to crow about it (groan).

Beginners Course

11/09/2011

Beginners and Members

Great to see a good turn out.

Hinxworth County Western

04/09/2011

The Western that became a Warwick

The rain was the main factor in what was otherwise, as usual, a great day out at Hinxworth. In fact the weather was so bad that after four ends it was decided to abandon the full Western and instead shoot a Warwick. Despite the conditions, Royston again came back with medals. Congratulations to Deborah and Pippa, and our thanks to Hinxworth for hosting a great event.

Winter Schedule

03/09/2011

Sorry for the late announcement/reminder but as you will hopefully already know, starting Sunday 04 Sep the club will meet at 12:30 instead of 10:00 because of the Rugby. Please arrive promptly, to help with the setting up of the range.

Constitution

03/09/2011

The clubs Constitution is now available on-line for you to read. It is also linked from the History page (if anyone can think of a better place to put it please get in touch.)

No Club Shoot on Sunday 17th July

13/07/2011

Just a reminder that because of the Abbington Piggot's Féte, there will not be a club shoot this Sunday. Sorry about that, but everyone is of course welcome to come along to the féte.

Members Scores Opened to the Public

13/07/2011

Because the scores page was password protected, we felt a lot of our members were dissuaded from viewing it. For that reason we've removed password protection from that page and replaced all full names with first names only, plus an initial or two to disambiguate where necessary. Enjoy.

Litlington Féte

09/07/2011

Great fun, and thanks to everyone who turned up to help!

Waiting for the crowds, and the rain

The rain came, stayed for ten minutes, then left; the rest of the day was very pleasant.

Two New Club Records

26/06/2011

Club records for Deborah shooting the Short Metric and for Adam shooting the Junior Short Metric III. Congratulations!

Summer Postal League

The first two month's scores are up on the Scores page.

Meldreth Village Fayre

07/05/2011

Our Range

A nice day, despite rain earlier which kept things quiet in the morning, but we had plenty of interested customers later in the afternoon.

Green Dragon

If anyone else is interested in attending the Green Dragon Bowmen 2011 Windsor, you can download the application form here.

Personal Bests and Club Records

On Sunday 13th March 2011 three archers shot their personal best scores in the frostbite and each beat the club records. Well done!

New Pages

There are a couple of new pages on this site. Firstly there's a members only page where we track our scores, passwords are available from Bill. Secondly we have a classifications page to show how we're progressing.

Third Barkway Extended "Come and Try"

Very well-attended again. We were lucky with the weather, though the "mini heatwave" we were promised this weekend failed to materialize.

Hinxworth County Western

05/09/2010

The shoot in progress

Another great day out hosted by Hinxworth Archery Club. Again, two RHAC members came home with medals, and this time a trophy too!

Highest score for junior lady at the county western

Archery World Cup Final

The Archery World Cup Final is being held in Edinburgh this year, over the weekend of the 18th and 19th of September, and a few of us are interested in going. If you are interested too then talk to Dave or Bill. We'll need to book tickets soon if we want grandstand seats (they're only £5 a ticket.) Otherwise we can still get in free of charge but won't get seats. If we block book we can get seats together. We'll also need to sort out travel and accommodation. The official web site is www.archeryedinburgh.co.uk.

Update

One of us managed to make it, and took lots of photos. The official photographers did better. There's also a BBC Video. Of course you can watch the whole thing, match by match on Archery TV, but here's the highlights.

Hinxworth Anual Invitation Shoot

07/08/2010
