9th November 2014. Abbey Bowmen’s 6th ‘Enticingly Difficult’ Wand Shoot.

Harry Potter aside, a “Wand” is an upright wooden pole stuck in the ground at a considerable distance (120 or 140 yards) from the archers. It has a ring around the base and arrows falling within the ring score. Arrows actually hitting the wand score extra.

A few of our members went along to this one to give it a try, and we did surprisingly well. In the gent’s recurve 140 yard wand Andrew Cox came first, Jack Corps second, and Mike Wright was only pipped at the post for third, coming fourth overall.
